Blackout Art Society
We’ve started our journey as an Ad Hoc theatre group in Vancouver, BC, in 2012. For four years, Blackout has been creating socially conscious and innovative theatre for the Persian community on the North Shore with the help of local Persian artists. Since 2017 we have been working as a registered non for profit organization in BC. We desire to open up our work to the broader community by producing in both Persian and English, attracting a wider diversity of audiences. To follow our mission, we will be running the STAND festival annually. The inaugural STAND Festival is an in-person and live-streamed celebration by and for immigrant and refugee theatre artists. Through a series of workshops, panel discussions and public showcase performances, STAND supports and amplifies the creations and voices of newcomers to Canada through the arts.

Presentation House Theatre is proud to be a part of the inaugural STAND Festival, sharing these important works, voices, and performances with the community. We are a professional theatre company and creative cultural centre, bringing performing arts to the diverse communities of the North Shore and beyond through the creative sharing of stories and spaces. We do this to play with ideas, inspire connections and deepen understandings of the human experience. Welcome.
